Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada Natural Environment, made up of the National and Natural Park of the same name, impresses as a vast mountain massif with a compact mountainous terrain and for having the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula, Mulhacén with 3.482 meters. Integrated in the Penibética mountain range extends from South-East of Granada to the western end of Almería. Due to its great landscape variety and possess some unique natural values it has obtained different figures of biodiversity protection. In addition to being Nature Reserve and National Park, it is internationally recognized as a Biosphere Reserve.

In the Sierra Nevada we found the most southern ski resort in Europe and the higher altitude of Spain. Because of these characteristics it is usually ideal for skiing, due to good weather and the excellent quality of its snow. It is located 27 km from the city of Granada on the road A-395, and is less 100 km from Motril, Granada coast, being able to enjoy the mountains and the sea on the same day, given that travel by car can be completed in less than an hour.

This ski resort has good facilities for the practice of winter sports, but also offers other possibilities, such as trips on sledges pulled by nordic dogs, a Snow park, or the recreational park of the Fuente del Mirlo Blanco. In summer all kinds of mountain and outdoors sports are practiced (cycling, horseback riding, hiking, climbing, etc.).
